The Euros 2021 are here! This is one of the biggest sporting event in the world (short of the World Cup).



Why is everyone seemingly SO excited (EVEN the fake football fans) about the Euros? Because it's been a while since there's been a BIG football event! It didn't happen last year as planned, because of - you guessed it - COVID!


But with COVID restrictions easing, restaurants and pubs opening back up, and the SUN shining down on us, the EUROS 2021 celebrations are in FULL FORCE!



With games being screened almost every day, there is a big chance you will have some sort of alcoholic beverage (most likely a cold beer) in hand while watching some beautiful men scoring some beautiful goals.


And we mustn't forget the SNACKS that come with these pints.

Is the above setting a disaster for your waist line? Unfortunately it is!

Let's do some maths! Say you had 4 pints of STELLA while watching a game...


That is 227 x 4 = 908 CALORIES

You've consumed 908 Calories in 90 minutes. That's pretty much HALF your daily calorie allowance gone in those 90 minutes.









This is how long you'll have to exercise to burn off about 200 calories:

Before you begin to PANIC, don't fret! There is still a way to enjoy watching these much awaited action packed games with a drink in hand!

Use mixers such as club soda, sugar-free juices, sugar-free sodas etc



2. Gin Based Drinks


Calories: 115 calories in 1.5 ounces of 90-proof gin

Gin with low calorie and sugar free tonics makes a great, refreshing drink! Perfect for the summer heat. Throw in some frozen berries, cucumber and lemon slices for an extra kick!



3. Tequila Based Drinks


Calories: 100 calories in 1.5 ounces of tequila

Now, we're not condoning taking shots of tequila, but tequila can mix very well with low calorie and low sugar lemonades or lemon based squash! 







If you're not a big alcohol drinker, or don't consume alcohol at all, you could still be sabotaging your waist-line with some horrifically high calorie drinks!
